The Pressure Group was founded in June 2000 by Ian Chandler.

Ian Chandler is one of the UK’s leading authorities on advocacy and campaigning. His career has spanned being Campaigns Manager for Oxfam GB (1996 – 2000), founding a media agency in Jordan (1984 - 1985), and running a development education centre (1986 - 1989). He has a Masters degree in Business Administration (MBA).

The Pressure Group’s recent work has included:

• Devising and delivering an advocacy skills training programme for development NGOs in Uganda. This has included a process of needs assessment interviews, a series of participative workshops and seminars, and the production of a manual, workbook and resource guide.

• Organising Oxfam International’s staff presence and supporter mobilisation in Prague for the World Bank and IMF annual meeting.

• Training workshops on “Communicating Ideas and Engaging the Public” and “Exploring Advocacy” for staff from a variety of UK development organisations.
